How are duties and taxes calculated at checkout?
To provide a smoother and more efficient delivery experience for customers outside the U.S., Huckberry partners with Passport, a trusted international shipping provider. Through Passport, you can see and pay shipping costs, duties, and taxes at checkout on Huckberry.com. This upfront payment speeds up delivery, minimizes customs delays, and reduces unexpected charges upon arrival.
At checkout, Passport calculates the duties and taxes based on product information (e.g. item's country of manufacture, materials, price) and your destination country’s specific rates and regulations. These fees are added to your total order cost, along with applicable shipping charges. Paying these costs upfront means you won’t be prompted for additional charges or experience delays when your order arrives in your country.*
Why are duties and taxes now paid at checkout?
While you may not have previously been asked to pay duties and taxes for every international order, increased scrutiny from customs in many regions has led to more frequent enforcement of duty and tax requirements on international shipments. To avoid unexpected fees and delays, we now collect these charges at checkout to ensure a smooth delivery experience.
What if I have a problem with my package after it has shipped?
We don't anticipate you'll have any trouble, but when the unexpected happens the Passport shipping team offers around the clock support. You can view Frequently Asked Questions on their page here.
You can also reach out directly to a member of the Passport team via their web chat here or by emailing help@passportshipping.com to investigate shipping delays, customs or duties issues, or any other issues while your package is en route to you. Please include your package tracking number, email address on your order, and order reference number (beginning with the letter "R") in your support ticket.
How do I reclaim duties or taxes for returned items?
Duties & taxes paid at checkout are non-refundable from Huckberry. Since duties are paid to your country's customs office, you'll need to file to reclaim your duties or file for duty drawback with your specific country you've imported them to (if allowed). Please check your local customs office website for details.
*Please note some exceptions may occur in certain countries, depending on various customs office rates, regulations, and reviews.
